The railroad had its first guest operator this past week. I’ve known this operator over 30 years and this operator has visited but never operated on any of the 4 railroads I’ve built in 3 different houses spread across 2 states over the years. This operator did a good job as it was the first time EVER this operator ‘ran’ a train.
This operator was my wife Jen!
She has watched me indulge in this hobby for decades and finally volunteered to see what all the fuss was about. After minimal explanation on my part, she grabbed a switchlist, coupler pick, throttle and a pen and was off.
As with any new operator on a new railroad, there is a learning curve and she pick up the fundamentals quickly. Waytogo!
The railroad awaits her next visit!

Congratulations to Jenn! Having a spouse who shares your interest in the hobby is excellent! Now you can run a few sessions with someone to take over a train.
I am sure she will rise to a full-fledged engineer in no time under your guidance!
Good luck and hope to see some running of the Rockville Western Railroad soon!
