I’ve posted a video on YouTube showing the progress so far on the Indiana Subdivision. https://youtu.be/oPeUNNMfV5M?si=KjtZ77fLOn3jW7z1 Like. Comment. Subscribe. I’ll have a post soon showing the construction of the new removable doorway bridge.
Tweaking the industries
Lately, I’ve been creating and operating a number of trains generated by the JMRI Ops software. On the Indiana Sub (north room) I’ve found that the IHB Yard was way too small to supply sufficient cars to the Indiana Sub let alone the entire Railroad. The IHB Yard had only a 5 car capacity plus... Continue Reading →
New Lakota Track Drawing
I’ve finished the relaying of the track at Lakota. The photos show the before and after line drawings of Lakota and Cullen. The drawings are not to scale. Cullen will be much more easily accessed with the new configuration. New track layout Previous track layout
A good investment
A couple of months ago, I purchased a Digitrax LNWI. This device is used to easily connect WIFI throttles (like old cell phones) to the Railroad. Previously, I would have to connect my laptop to the Loconet, power on the Railroad, start the JMRI software, wait for it to connect to the command station and... Continue Reading →
The Lakota Switchback Issue
On the Indiana Sub the town of Cullen is accessed via a switchback at Lakota. When planning the Railroad, I thought it would be challenging. It turned out to be annoying. Today I fixed the issue. As seen below, Cullen is accessed from the mainline by pulling into the spur at Rockwell then backing into... Continue Reading →
Clipboard hangers
I use clipboards to hold the JMRI switch list paperwork. To keep me and future operators from setting the clipboard on the Railroad, I fashioned hangers out of vinyl C-channel. The channel is normally used with vinyl siding installations. I Pop riveted the channel to the back of the clipboard. The clipboard can now hang... Continue Reading →
I ran a train today!
I fired up the Railroad today for the first time in months. I have had a small JMRI generated train switchlist sitting on a clipboard since February. Today, I decided to run that train. Before starting, I vacuumed off the track with a small rechargeable vacuum. I flipped the power switch and the Railroad started... Continue Reading →
I’m still around!
Hi all! Yes, I know it's been 10-1/2 months since my last post. First off, the Railroad is still in place. The tragic passing of my older brother Tim in February put all progress on the Railroad on hold. There are more important things than model trains! Spring and summer brought new house projects that... Continue Reading →
Line drawings
I present the simple line drawings of the railroad. These were drawn in CadRail, saved as PDFs then converted to JPGs so the resolution leaves a little to be desired. The drawings are not to scale. Numbers at the industries refer to specific spots for the rolling stock. If an industry has no number, there... Continue Reading →
Hello 2024!
Hi all. I hope you all had a good final quarter of 2023. It’s been a quite a while since my last post. I’m here to let you know all is well here in Rockville and I’m getting motivated to make more progress on the Railroad. A couple of weeks ago, I fired up the... Continue Reading →
