A little over a week ago, my friend Rusty drove down from Chicagoland. I’ve known him for years as he was a district manager for Ace Hardware for many years. Rusty is going to build a new HO model railroad from scratch. Me being a seasoned model railroader, he was looking for information, suggestions and input. He came armed with a plethora of questions.
He brought with him an ATSF brass Northern he’s had for years and had never seen it run. My Digitrax DCC system has the ability to run a non-decoder equipped loco and his ran like a champ. I was happy to give him the throttle to make a couple of laps on the RW Indiana Sub.

Ahhhh…seeing that Northern run for the first time is akin to hearing a well built small block Chevy breathe life for the first time – thru open headers of course! There’s nothing quite like it. Jeff YoustPlymouth, IN Modeling The Dayton Branch, 1964
