This month will mark 2 years since the beginning of the construction of my railroad. On this day in 2023, I brought the first section of the railroad into the empty north bedroom.

I used this first 2 foot by 8 foot hunk of the railroad to make sure the height was what I wanted. I did do away with 2 of the 4 legs as I eventually screwed the carcass to the wall. There are now very few legs needed to hold up the entire railroad.
After 2 years of construction and operation, I am happy with the overall track arrangement. There have been a couple of changes from the original plan ( the Lakota switchback removal and the doorway bridge installation) and these changes have made the operations aspect of the railroad more enjoyable.
One more change coming will be a tweaking of the arrival/departure track layout at the Rockville Western yard in Fairfax. I’ll cover that in a future post.
Here’s hoping the rodent in Pennsylvania doesn’t see his shadow!
