The third wood project completed last week was the building of tunnels for the supply HVAC. The supply registers for the 2 rooms are in the floor. With the skirting installed, the registers are behind the skirting. I built a couple of simple tunnels to direct the forced air outlet to the front of the skirting.

The tunnels are simply 1/2” plywood painted the fascia/valance gray and they just sit on the floor. The tunnels are set back 3-1/2” from the benchwork front so they shouldn’t be impacted by the operators. Felt weatherstripping is fastened to the wood that sits on the floor. If the tunnels aren’t needed, I’ll just pulled them out and the skirting folds down over the opening.

Ken,
The tunnels will definitely keep the temperature balanced

Thanks Tim. The rooms should heat or cool quickly.
